Super Typhoon Mawar hit Guam as a Category 4 storm on May 24 bringing hurricane-force winds and heavy rain to the island. As of May 30, rain and flooding continue to hamper recovery efforts, and much of the island is still without power.

Even though the storm's last-minute turn to the north minimized the impact to KTWR, recent assessments have revealed that two of the curtain antennas are severely damaged, rendering the station unable to broadcast.

There is still no running water at KTWR. Rainwater is being captured using intermediate bulk containers to flush toilets and wash hands. Because of widespread power outages, some areas of the island still do not have cell service or internet.

TWR staff are feeling stressed as they are trying to balance attending to storm-related challenges at home as well as at the station. Most staff homes are still without power.
