A Troll-Free Zone, Judy! Have fun!
I'm excited to present Judy Elkins to you. Judy was VFX Supervisor Gary Hutzel's right hand person on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She could do it all, build models, sculpt, draw... you name it. That really is a requirement to work in VFX, art department, makeup... and more.
Over the years, a famous, and infamous Star Trek "Frankenstein Fleet" has been a fan fascination. I had inherited a bunch of Polaroids of some of the models from Gary. Most of the shots you see on line came from my archive. There were many more than what is presented here. Judy was kind enough to write up her reminisce for you guys, 'cause I knew you would love it. Thank you Judy!
Television is FAST. When you say "pull the trigger", there is a good reason, because it is akin to a bullet. It's GO! GO! GO! You often only have an hour, sometimes minutes, to get something that's complicated done. There have been times where I've been working something right in front of the camera lens, with the entire shooting crew, DP, director, waiting and watching. It takes nerves of steel.
Anyway... Judy? The stage is yours!
