Describe a competition (e.g. TV,college/work or competition)that you took part in.
You should say:
What kind of competition it was and how you found out about it
What you had to do
What the prize were
And explain why you chose to take part in this competition.
The best competition I took part in(定语从句) was a speech competition. At that time,I was studying in a high school. One day, after I finished my class, and was going back home(状语从句),I suddenly saw the poster on the wall. The title was really striking(引人注目的). When I knew that our school was going to organise such a competition(状语从句),I was not quite sure whether I would join the competition or not(名词性从句). It(形式主语) asked us to give a prepared speech (主语)for 15 minutes, and then I would answer the questions of the judges(评委). After that,I should give a spontaneous(自然的,天真率直的) speech for 10 minutes. I was not sure whether I should take part in the competition(名词性从句). I was not very good at standing in front of a large of audiences and giving a public speech(分词并列). I knew that I had to prepare a lot(宾语从句) before the competition. I thought it(形式主语) was a good opportunity for me to explore my potential(主语). Like a famous person said, and I can’t remember his name,“Nobody can beat(打败) you, but(除非) yourself.”I chose to be in(参加) the competition as(因为) it would be an opportunity to overcome my shyness(害羞) and nervousness(紧张心里)(动词不定式充当于后置定语)in public.
